Frequently Asked

Technical, environmental, and commercial questions.

Application

What's the application process?

+

Build A Road® is diluted with water at a 1:4 ratio and applied with standard water trucks or distributor equipment. The crew then compacts with conventional rollers. Most projects return to traffic within 24 hours.

Do I need specialized equipment?

+

No. Build A Road® works with the equipment most operations already own — water trucks, motor graders, and pneumatic or steel-drum rollers.

What aggregate works best?

+

Native soil, recycled asphalt, crushed stone, and most graded base materials work. Our application engineers will spec the gradation based on a soil sample.

Chemistry & Environment

Is Build A Road® corrosive?

+

No. Unlike calcium chloride and magnesium chloride products, our binder is chloride-free and non-corrosive — safe near flowlines, wellheads, rebar, and structural steel.

Is it safe near water bodies?

+

Yes. Build A Road® is non-leaching and has been used adjacent to fish-bearing streams, wetlands, and drinking-water sources. We can provide MSDS and environmental documentation on request.

What's the dust profile?

+

Field measurements consistently show 80–95% PM10 reduction versus untreated aggregate, with persistence measured in years, not days.

Performance & Lifecycle

How long does it last?

+

Typical treatments perform 5–7+ years with routine maintenance grading, depending on traffic loading and climate. Heavy industrial haul roads may require periodic touch-up applications.

What's the comparison to chip seal?

+

On a lifecycle-cost basis, Build A Road® typically delivers 2–3× the lane miles per dollar of chip-seal, with lower ongoing maintenance and no aggregate-loss liability.

Does it perform in freeze-thaw climates?

+

Yes. The binder cures into a flexible, water-resistant matrix that handles freeze-thaw cycles without the cracking failure mode common to rigid surfaces.

Commercial

How is it sold?

+

Build A Road® is sold as a concentrate by the tote, tanker, or rail car. Pricing is based on project volume and delivery logistics.

Do you have a distributor in my region?

+

Our distributor network covers most of North America. Contact us with your project location and we'll connect you with the appropriate applicator.

Can you support spec writing for public bid?

+

Yes. We provide spec language, performance criteria, and supporting test data for DOT, county, and federal procurement.
